Sheroes of Architecture

Women are extraordinary designers, yet the architecture profession lags behind our potential and we owe it to ourselves to step up and to take pride in our ambitions.

As a minority within architecture, women often feel alone and confused, unsure how to navigate the complex field while juggling heavy caring responsibilities.

Sheroes of Architecture, An assembly of female role models ready to share their wisdom and empower other architects. A 3-day virtual event hosted on zoom – DATE: 12th- 14th May 2021.

  • Women in architecture struggle to get their voice heard,
  • It is hard to be a mother and an architect,
  • Women in Architecture find it harder to found their own practices and be independent.

“I am a woman, hear me roar!” Hellen Reddy

Architects Sara Kolata and Lisa Raynes have seen the problems in the industry first hand: from embarking on a solopreneur journey in Architecture to being made redundant twice whilst on maternity leave.

To solve this problem, and to unite many powerful female architects, we introduce Sheroes of Architecture: An assembly of female role models ready to share their wisdom and empower other architects.

Because of the barriers that women face within the industry, running our own practices is often our only option, but this is by no means easy. The majority of our sheroes run their own practices, so the conference is a great opportunity to gain practical insights into being successful in this arena.
